On 29 March, ITV, STV and Livewire Pictures will join forces with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and the media and entertainment group Global, to stage a two-hour fundraiser concert raising money for the humanitarian appeal in Ukraine.

A line-up of presenters and artists, to be announced over the coming days, will take part in the live show, which will be broadcast across ITV, STV, ITV Hub and STV Player.

ITV states that all sponsorship and advertising revenue generated from the broadcast of the event will also be donated to the DEC appeal.

MU members to head up the music department

MD/Arranger for the event Steve Sidwell, and Contractor for the concert Paul Spong (also part of our Recording and Broadcasting Committee) are both MU members.

Steve said:

“Music is a powerful tool we can use to unite and offer solidarity to the people of Ukraine. With friends and colleagues we are coming together to raise funds for the DEC’s appeal, so they can get aid to those communities affected most in this humanitarian crisis”.

Paul said:

“The generosity of the musician’s involved in this project has been heart warming at most. There has been no hesitation from musicians or other colleagues to be involved with this project - donating their time and energy fully without question. We feel privileged to be a part of this fundraising concert”.

Ensuring all funds are donated

In addition to the statement from ITV confirming that all revenue will be donated, the MU’s Recording and Broadcasting Department have also spoken with the Executive Producer of the event, to ensure that the right agreements are in place to guarantee that all funds go to the official DEC appeal.
