MU Supports New Disability Poverty Campaign Group

The Disability Poverty Campaign Group, (DPCG) is a new coalition led by Disability Rights UK and Inclusion London. It was created to respond to increasing poverty in the Disabled community around food, fuel and benefits as the cost of living spirals.

As the cost of living skyrockets, many Disabled people endure a constant worry about money which has a devastating mental and physical impact. Poverty in 2022 is not acceptable.

Areas of concern

The DPCG has highlighted three immediate areas of concern to take action on. These are:

1. To push for an increase in all benefits in line with inflation
2. To seek targeted support for Disabled people’s energy costs
3. To seek fairer charging for social care

Taking action

DPCG are asking for people to email their MP’s to call for a thorough reassessment of social security support for disabled people, to end the appalling levels of poverty in the disabled community. Contact your MP and submit the email via the Action Network tool.
